Is Not Defeated

Dionysos Nyktelios The sound of this album is so unique and personal that trying to put a label into it is a pointless effort. There is a very fine thread that is barely capable of connect the entire record, and yet, despite all the variations, it never breaks, making the whole shine as much as the sum of its parts.

This album is passionate, ambitious and complex. There are a lot of contrasts, layers and unexpected nuances waiting to hit you when you least expect it. Favorite track: Forest of Mirrors.

Kira K'yuz~ It would take too much words to describe my love to this guys~<3
Now I can play Dark Souls 3 with proper soundtrack.

Last album sound very different from song to song, but it’s the ascent of Everest. Favorite track: The Valley Below.

I’m sorry that the women you've loved have fed on you To help them grow until their fruit Was ripe but thought not to be wasted Went to other hands to see how they tasted What a loss what a shame You know the autumn is her name She’s wearing all those pretty clothes But she knows How to take them off
3.
Take Control 04:16
turn it round back again hand in hand
i recoil
there are forces out of my control

talk it down hold it down hands wash hands
 but i can still recall
there are forces out of our control
who can say when and what way you’ll go

 take control
take control
 take control

take control
take control
 take control
 stay don’t go

wield your will upon them
take control
4.
void of compassion and cut from the same cloth as me
raised in the pit with a forked tongue and sharp teeth

how i wish i could

break the spell
 silence the voice
 when it comes
 don’t trust your feelings
 trust your choice

given in faith and taken as oath solemnly
i promise to love you as long as you never hurt me

but now i wish i could

break the spell silence the voice
when it comes
 don’t trust your feelings
trust your choice

drive in the hooks are tied round the room with strings
the slightest of tugs and i’m pulled right back into the scene of the crime
with every turn the feeling returns with a dreadful patient persistence
waiting behind any and every moment

it is blessing that feels like curse
and although it won’t be the last time it’s not the first

Words Fail 05:25
choosing between being happy and honest and which one is hopeless.
stretching the seams, of the garment of truth that we wear on our sleeves.
i know you girl. i know you.
pulling me back, like a slingshot I'm zooming but where am I moving,
I hold my attack till i'm fed and i'm rested then on to the next we will go.
i know you girl, i know you.
words words, through the night say i've been waitin to see you.
hours hours, where'd they go, cause i've been waitin to show you.
6.
i see them race towards us pushing back the night changing faces pull yourself out passing vapor trails pure thought set adrift looking endlessly passing vapor trails pull yourself out you're someone who sees you're somewhere in the night you and i will never see the starlight again unclaimed spaces between forgotten dreams of you and i how will the season repair themselves in endless daylight permalight floating unseen held inbetween unclaimed spaces between you and i you and i how will the season repair themselves in endless daylight permalight dressed in shadow just how long can you hide you can’t hide sand and dust, nothing but sand and dust because no one sleeps here slipping into endless seasons there is nothing left i have nothing left to loose i am ready to change completely though empty reason oooh that's when i knew wounded seasons they will live again in the forest of mirrors i lost myself there that's when i knew
7.
Secret Truth 05:13
i deny the sun up in the sky its beautiful design
 completely empty inside
your dreams you want so much to believe
 forget all that you heard
take back every word

say something try and say anything
i know your secret truth
 the past that follows you
say something try and say anything
i hold your secret truth
it means nothing to you

i deny the sun up in the sky
its beautiful design
 completely empty inside
sour dreams i know something of these things
forget all that you heard
take back every word
8.
Too Sweet 06:33
a cold wind blows long and low thru the hollow
the places you go but you no longer know
the butterflies sting a constant reminder to us
of what will never be and what never really was

your love made me a legend in my own time
now i wander your drunken streets auditioning new wives
there's no one left that i know in the old haunts kicking around
no one fool enough to die alone in this dead end town

too sweet to let go
too much to hold on to

 too sweet to let go
too late to ever be true

it’s too sweet don’t let go there’s no way to hold on to you
9.
Aimless 07:01
aimless we proceed on
 aimlessly we proceed alone
 all alone
i’ve waited here for you to change

the days they pass without any recognition

 stay with me
stay asleep
my aching head
 still will be
filled with dreams
 of you

My eyelids are heavy and strong like anchors Holding you still in the water Wanting to be let up Wanting to be let up It’s times like this Relics of what has expired And he said baby you move like tornadoes Taking in all that surrounds you Spinning till your asleep It’s times like this Relics of what has expired Relics of what has expired Relics of what has expired Relics of what has expired My eyelids are heavy and strong like anchors Holding you still in the water Wanting to be let up Wanting to be let up And he said baby you move like tornadoes Taking in all that surrounds you Spinning till your asleep Spinning till your asleep Spinning till your asleep It’s times like this It’s times like this
11.
hope in southern swears, the golden midnight air.
i could, i could have loved you.
hope in stubborn speech, when laughing makes me weak.
 wait. wait. wait.
i could, i could have, i could have loved you.

Magnolia 04:52
the moment was beautiful, it settled like dust on your skin.
the birds gave a warning, they said its early morning come in.
we stretched as we woke, our bodies were sore from our sins,
the magnolia smelled so sweet then, so sweet were we.

a white swollen flower, the minutes, the hours within,
was placed in a vase on the white kitchen countertop end.
our muscles had changed, their movements, their patterns in space,
 I'll refigure a time and a place
 with you, with you.

about

Is Not Defeated is an album from a tight-knit community of musicians who assembled, lived together, and wrote music together in non-traditional ways. it’s an album of intricate compositions and sincere passion, culminating in a cathartic zenith.

“The result of this unified effort is an album that very much feels like scaling a mountain. Is Not Defeated is a winding journey with strenuous climbs, harrowing narrow passages, sudden drops into yawning chasms and gorgeous sonic vistas that seem to stretch to the horizon. Over the album’s ambitious 1-hour-and-16-minute trek, you can spot myriad disparate influences. There’s the spacious twang of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ film scores, like The Road or The Proposition. There’s the weighty, lumbering dirge of more recent work by avant-garde metal band Neurosis. There’s the quiet, floating beauty of U.K. rockers Mojave 3.” - Nashville Scene

about

The Ascent of Everest Nashville, Tennessee

the ascent of everest is metaphor for ambitious goals. partly the synthesis of genre and fusion of musical traditions but also to articulate abstract emotional places and states of being. some will be quick to pick out bits that could be called post rock metal doom electronic shoegaze neoclassical etc. but shy from saying what the ultimate result is: this is about the journey into the unknown. ... more
